Interviews from the Daoist World: Mattias Daly
Discussing Recent Translations & Internal Alchemy + Our First Podcast Release!
Hello,
Welcome to this edition of the Nüwa Newsletter!
Here you will find a recent interview with translator and Daoist practitioner Mattias Daly. I first met Mattias in Taiwan this summer and spent such a great evening discussing neidan whilst hiking to temples in the mountains around Taipei.
Mattias has an incredibly deep knowledge and understanding of Daoist practice, combined with a wicked sense of humour and great humility. In this interview we cover a whole range of things, including how Mattias started Daoist practice, his various translation projects and we also discuss the distinction between post-heaven and pre-heaven alchemical practice.
In March next year Shambhala is publishing Mattias’ translation of a work on 19th century neidan master Huang Yuanji. This is going to be so important for anyone interested in Daoism and internal alchemy in the West.
Lastly, a big thank you to both Bill Porter (Red Pine) and Johan Hausen for putting us in touch!
