Interviews from the Daoist World: Johan Hausen
Discussing Daoist Cultivation & Purple Cloud Press
Hello,
Welcome to this edition of the Nüwa Newsletter!
Johan Hausen is a senior student of Li Xingde, who is abbot of Five Immortals Temple in the Wudang Mountains. As well as being a highly experienced Daoist practitioner, Johan is also one of the founders of Purple Cloud Institute, which publishes a range of great books on Daoist cultivation and Chinese medicine. I first met Johan whilst studying at Five Immortals Temple, and it was great to reconnect with him when he visited Paris recently!
In this interview, we speak about how Johan first came to Daoist practice, his experience studying with Li Shifu and his work at Purple Cloud Institute.
You can find out more about Johan’s work and stay updated either via his website or Instagram.
Plus a personal book recommendation from Purple Cloud! Li Shifu’s revised edition and commentary on Liu Yiming’s famous Script for Penetrating Through the Barriers, which you can find here.
If you missed the Nüwa’s last interview with Mattias Daly, you can find that here.
Have a lovely weekend,
Oscar
Really fascinating interview! I have some of their books and they're really amazing! Looks at part of the culture that you couldn't really find 20 years ago. Most surprising thing from the interview was in the last 2 minutes. He's talking about the black plaster. If you can get a hold of him again. I'm so interested to know what that story is!
