I like this interview a lot. I wonder if he is still there in order to visit him. Did he teach you some practice or show you some skill?

Ps. On mobile I noticed that the comments do not work, seems to be a bug of the mobile version, so I am doing it on desktop.

Hey Riccardo, I'm so glad you enjoyed the article! In 2017 I studied with Li Shifu for six months. We covered Wudang martial arts, qigong, meditation, and the theory of internal alchemy. Aside from the specific practices, I think I learnt just as much from being around and watching him and the mountain is a truly special place to practice as well. I'm sure once China's borders re-open he will begin running live-in courses again.

If you want to know more about Li Shifu you can read Lindsey Wei's book The Valley Spirit. She's a senior student of Li Shifu, and teaches in Oregon and online. Loan Guylaine (Cheng Feng) also runs courses in Europe (https://www.featherbeings.com), and Piotr Jan Nowak is just opening a training centre in Poland (https://tian-di-ren-institute.com).

Thanks for the heads up about the comments!

Wow it’s amazing you have been there 6 months! I would like to spent many months too in a place like that to dedicate to internal cultivation only. Thanks a lot for the recommended reading, it seems a very good book! The guys that do the courses in Europe are senior students of him?

Ps. The reply to a comment works on mobile, but not the first one😁

Agreed! Yes, they're all senior students of Li Shifu. Let me know how it goes if you end up studying with them or travel to the temple! 😊

The history of the Jade maiden grinding the rod, was a young girl and not an old woman as it has been explained in here. This is the famous story of the Spirit of the Jade Maiden that changed ZHEN WU'S mind and perception to return to the mountain to cultivate for 42 years, creating the Nei Dan according to Zhen Wu or the Xuan Wu 'Dark Warrior'.

Thanks for your comment Christian! As with most of these stories, there’s many versions of them -- they form parts of varied and often place/lineage specific mythologies.

Thank you as well. I find all this very interesting and I am aware that there are so many variations in each clan, lineage and methods. I will be heading back to Wudang next year. 🙏🏼☯️
